Strategic Plan 2007-2011
This is a third Strategic Plan for the NSO covering the period 2007-2011.This report presents all strategic issues and activity plans that are going to guide the work of the National Statistical Office (NSO), to enable the country meet its demand for high quality, timely, accessible statistical information and services for the next five years. Statistics are a vital part of Malawi’s development. They are needed for evidence-based decision and policy making; to provide quantitative measures of development progress; to allow Malawians to measure the implementation of policies and reforms; and to support economic management and the delivery of services.
The plan is intended to cover the internal organisation and operation of the NSO, and is not a work plan covering all official statistics outputs - many of which are produced by other Departments and Ministries and this will be covered separately in the strategic plan for the National Statistical System (NSS).
