2002 Core Welfare Indicators Questionnaire (CWIQ) Survey

The Core Welfare Indicators Questionnaire (CWIQ ) survey is designed to produce indicators of social welfare in a cheaper and more regular way to provide instrument for the continous monitoring of poverty reduction programmes and social development in general. The traditional way of assessing poverty is through consumer expenditure surveys .These surveys are usually very costly and do not take place too frequently.Hence there is a considerable lag in the time the data is available for use.

It was against this background of need for timely and reliable data that the CWIQ was developed to collect unformation on human development indicators, which measure access, utilization and satisfaction with social services on a single visit to the households.
